As a longtime Braves fan—and an unapologetic supporter of Alex Anthopoulos—I’ve never understood the cottage industry of folks who love to parse adjectives and assume the worst about the man. Some people seem convinced AA holds grudges against certain players. Others act like he’s hiding a crystal ball in his desk drawer that tells him exactly what’s going to happen on Monday—or any day after.

Let’s be real: nobody has that crystal ball. Not AA, not the media, not the fans. He operates with the same imperfect information as everyone else, and historically he’s been better at navigating uncertainty than just about any executive in baseball.

That’s why this offseason has me hopeful and anxious. Hopeful because the Braves farm system still has enough talent to help on the MLB side. Anxious because I really don’t want to see a pile of prospects moved for a middle-of-the-rotation starter with a long track record of “mostly healthy until they weren’t”—the Aaron Nola archetype. You know the type: solid, dependable… until suddenly not.

My dream scenario? The Braves have such a surplus of pitching prospects that they barely need to dip into free agency for the next few years—except for the right trade when it actually makes sense. Whether that happens this offseason, we’ll find out soon enough.

But until then, I’ll keep trusting AA. He’s earned that much. Many of my friends tell me daily how much they do not like AA on a plane or on a train....I do understand. I still feel grateful the Braves have him. I am also grateful we have Lindsay.

It seems to me we're back to 2016 when we drafted 3rd overall and picked the first Northeastern prep pitcher EVER , or since, taken so high. Ian Anderson.

And from 2015 until 2024 we Always chose a pitcher first. Except 2019 when they chose that catcher since traded to Oakland/Sacremento/Las Vegas.

I don't understand how Everybody in the Front Office has Job Security.
