Just want to say thanks to Taylor and plese keep posting.

I was hoping for a lefty College starter at #9. Doesn't appear one exists worth taking at #9

So i would be tempted for a prep lefty, even though we clearly need hitters/position players. At least 2 of those first 3 picks need to hit !!!!

All 3 picks are in the top 50 . Praise the Baseball Gods.

Oh yeah, he's already started the next draft-focused piece! We've got more draft content coming this year

Good stuff. The question is, how good is Atlanta's scouting department at accurately evaluating the available talent? Incredible mistakes like Kelenic and Laureano make me wonder. You and/or Lindsay should devote some of your analytical talent to ranking the Braves' scouting department with other teams like the Phillies and Brewers.

The big question here is how much separation there is between the pro player evaluations that led to Atlanta trading for Kelenic and declining Laureano's option and the scouting groups that are prepping for the draft. A lot of the best teams have separate teams that do that, but we don't know with the Braves.

As long as your amateur scouts know what your development folks are good at coaching, I could see the amateur scouts be separate and distinct from the pro scouting department

Fair enough. But still, whether we're talking amateur or professional scouts, are the Braves investing resources in scouting as much as other teams? When you have a CEO who invests in luxury office space (2025) instead of players, I'm doubtful.
