OK - Atlanta signed reliever Suarez. AA has spent some money and made some real upgrades. That's all a fan can ask. There are never any guarantees how things will pan out but at least we can now look to spring training with renewed hope.
Right on. Exactly my sentiments for the past two years. McGuirk might strike your name from his Christmas card list - I have a feeling he still has more enthusiasm for investing in luxury office space in the Battery than in impact baseball players.
At this point, do you think AA will wait until after the new CBA to exceed the $22 million threahold? The best deals AA has made in the last few years are the ones he hasnt done. It’s not as fun for fans, but avoiding bad deals is the toughest part of a front office job. Would love to see an analysis of the FA deals over the last several years. When i saw the Schwaber deal, here’s the image i saw: a 37 yo Schwaber with his .170 BA and 12 HRs coming up to bat in late August in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd base with the Phils 1 game out of the WC. He will be making $30 milllion and if he doesn’t deliver (likely putcome), what’s the reaction of the Philly media and fans going to be? After all, they’re known fir their kindness & understanding.

Hell yes Lindsay !!!
If you want to compete with Mets and Phillies get off the $22. Million Cap.
The Mets lost millions of dollars last year.
But Steve Cohen's net worth went up from 21 Billion to 23 Billion. And he was just approved to build his own Casino in Queens near the Ballpark
Oh hell yeah !!!
Braves just signed Closer Robert Suarez 3years $ 45 Million.
