Atlanta's 2025 rotation is set after Sunday's trade of Ian Anderson to the Los Angeles Angels. Will José Suarez stick around, or is he not long for the Braves bullpen?
Let us not forget Lucas Sims; Matt Wisler; Luis Gohara; Tyrell Jenkins; Manny Banuelos; Jo Jo Reyes; Tommy Hanson; Damian Moss; Joe Johnson; Craig McMurtry
I remember dreaming of a Wisler, Gohora, Newcombe front 3. Alas. I think of Brian Cashman all the time: “ prospect is an ancient Chinese word meaning hasn’t done shit at the major league level.”
Sometimes the best of them make a mistake. Ian has an issue with fb command and a reliable 3rd pitch. I understand that is a lot and this is a time issue—like Soroka last year. I wish they could have given him a shot to start the season. I understand the reasoning behind it. I believe the Angels got a great pitcher for the next 5 years. Good for Ian. AA has to make difficult calls and fans like to bury people because reasons. Ian has been a great brave and deserves respect for his contributions. I will miss him. I hope and believe he will figure it out. He is generally good at getting weak contact and I hope that never leaves him. Great article as always.
There are some other roster crunches coming, too. It will be interesting to see how AA handles April. Who goes when Kimbrel is ready? Then the OF crunch in early May.
Yeah, the outfield one is probably worth a newsletter, some sort of "What Jarred Kelenic and Bryan De La Cruz need to do to not get optioned down when Acuña is back" thing.
Kelenic's the better defender, but Eli White could absolutely do that job so he might get everyday ABs in AAA

Kris Medlen! We could do this all day; there's a reason why "TINSTAAPP" is so prevalent in the prospect world
(There Is No Such Thing As A Pitching Prospect, if anyone didn't already know)
Ian joins the wall of promising yet collapsed braves starters over the last few years...
Sadly, he joins Kyle Wright and Michael Soroka (extenuating circumstances there) and Mike Foltynewicz and Sean Newcomb and...
