If the Braves can acquire a high quality, late inning bull pen piece and a starting pitcher, then I would vote for trying to resign Ozuna for one year. I don't think Murphy is a good enough hitter to share the DH role with Baldwin.

I'm down for two starters, one being a potential postseason guy, but I can see the argument for a #3-quality starter and a proven bullpen piece.

If Ozuna could play a position-bring him back. Otherwise better to use the spot as part-time DH, part-time field, let other players part-time DH as well.

I'd certainly negotiate with him. One more year, team friendly contract.

Raudy Reyes having a good outing in DSL.

His catcher hit his first homer.

Casanova the catcher, Campos the best defensive shortstop, Carmona the better power hitting shortstop, Espinal the tooled up center fielder and Tornes (must be injured), all these guys will be in the FCL next summer.

I'm more encouraged by this DSL class than by the July Draft.

I think the new 2 day draft format HURT the Braves.

Last year in the usual 3 day format the Braves knew how much money they had entering day 3.

They got Hartman, Covey , Brady Jones who' played all over the infielders and stole over 50 bases, Jacob Shaefer the 6'8 pitcher from UNC-Wilmington, outfielder Patrick Cloisy all on day 3 picks 11-20

Yeah, the change from three days to two compresses everything so much that it's likely hard to nail the late round lotto ticket money like they usually do

I agree with Lindsay that a low "team friendly" offer makes sense. I'd go lower and put it at $5 million for one year with two more years of team options at that figure, with a $5m. bonus any year he cracks the top 5 in MVP voting despite being DH. I'd also let him expect the regular DH job five days per week if he maintains a high OPS. Under those conditions I'd be clear this is a one time only take it or leave it proposition. This will better inform how we field trade offers for either Murphy (and his deserved but pricey contract), or Profar and his two remaining playoff-eligible years.

Unfortunately, Ozuna has not kept in ballplaying shape, or even more than couch potatoe shape! His drastic lapse from athelete to only good eye to hand coordination has been rapid. Move on.

He's definitely not helped himself from an athletic standpoint, that's for sure. Hard to believe he used to be an 82nd percentile sprint speed guy when he debuted
