Great insight on Shah’s strategy. I just hope they aren’t being TOO clever! Developmental emphasis is fine, but as the saying goes “3 MLB ready players in-hand are better than 5 in the bush!”!!

Yeah, my big question will be how much Emerson's bonus was and if they could have found a way to get him and one of the preps instead of the three prep arms.

Thanks for the great analysis. The draft was a good diversion from what was happening in St Louis. Have the Braves switched from a focus on drafting collegiate to prep arms?

The Braves approach makes complete sense. Drafting young arms is critical. The cost of pitching, especially SPs, in the current market is the definition of an irrational bubble. I don’t think MLB teams have adjusted pricing to the reduced SP workload and the high risk of injury and regresssion. It’s understandable, you see the same thing with the Braves fan base. When Reylo gave up the 3 run HR in the first innng, social media demanded the Braves acquire SPs at the deadline. Apparently everyone forgot that the night before the Braves had a true ace, a great pitching performance and lost.

They grabbed even more prep arms on day two and I plan to write about just that adjustment, yeah.
