The night shift was so lockdown in 21 that we essentially had 9 innings of offense and the other team had 5

Outstanding analysis. The game has changed… per my AI research the % of innings thrown by starters across MLB is down about 10% over the last 10 years. Anecdotally the number of starters used in a season has also increased (certainly for the Braves). The key to pitching success would seem to be increasingly shifting to depth of quality arms that can get outs at the major and upper minor leagues and less focused on the starting 5. The opening day SPs are still critical, but maybe not as much as they used to be. Based on this analysis and the Braves focus on drafting and developing pitchers, fingers-crossed we see a pay-off in 2026.
