There's been one MLB game ever played *in* the state of Tennessee (last year's Speedway Classic), and Eli White hit two home runs in that one and was named MVP. He's the best MLB player *in* the state of Tennessee, but he's not *from* Tennessee.
Oh, I knew that...I was just poking the bear a little! :-)
Great article as always!
Amazing that Helton played in front of Peyton Manning at UT for a skinny minute before Todd got hurt, Peyton became Peyton and Todd went on to a HOF career.
I know it's "just ST"... and I know we're not going to see 2023 numbers...but the offense has been very impressive, especially #27.
You have convinced on Fuentes starting the season in the pen as long man/spot starter. The Braves can control his innings. He can work with Hefner on his split/change. He can be a sponge and soak up all that vets like Chris Sale can teach him. And if/when a spot opens in the rotation, he can be ready.
Agreed... all the caveats...it's spring, small sample size...sometimes going up against less than major league arms... But if Riley is real and MH2's improved plate discipline is real and Ozzie gets his power stroke back... whoa, baby! This summer could be a whole lot of fun!
I'm happy there's so many young players looking improved. Fuentes, Ritchie, Murphy, Gil, Tornes, all those Augusta reenage outfielders. !!!
Nice imternational class with 2 more Nig Time shortstops
3 top 50 picks in the draft !!!
"Eli White. The greatest MLB player in the state of Tennessee..."
Todd Helton would like a word.
I'm being cheeky here, John.

Can't wait for the regular season to start!
Spring numbers mean very little, but Riley looks so so good at the plate.
He looks completely locked in.
