The Atlanta Braves had good swings on offense without the results to show for it, while hanging runs on Chris Sale with an uncharacteristically bad defensive inning
Chris Sale was phenomenal. He deserves so much better than what his teammates provided. The entire pitching staff deserves better. Was sitting amoung Giants’ fans and they were in awe of Sale and Lee. Baldwin didn’t have anything to show for it, but he looked good at the plate today. Absolutely horrible road trip as part of a horrendous month. It’s a long season and like to think I’ve been a Braves fan long enough not to overreact, but I hear the fat lady warming up her voice.
One of the things that struck me watching the team in person this weekend is that Riley has become far too similar to Devers. ( And I don’t mean because Devers hit well this series). I mean corner infielders with large and long contracts that are underperforming them with a lot of years left. The painful question has to be asked: Do the Braves need to do with Riley what the Red Sox did last year with Devers.
I'm imagining that this was probably the final weekend of regular starts for Kim. It's gone past untenable and honestly, I feel bad for the guy at this point
I agree - I believe Kim is trying hard to make it work but no spring training and pressing hard to catch up are not working. Either they just put him out there every day and hope that by August he has figured it out (similar, apparently, to Riley) or they have to go in a different direction. His being in the lineup once or twice a week isn't working.
One thing the Braves don't need to worry about: some other team stealing their hitting coach, Tim Hyers. Somehow Olsen, Harris, and Dubon continue to produce but Riley has severely regressed, Kim's bat is non existent, and Acuna and Murphy were not doing well even before going on the IL

Is Mateo hurt? Is the Braves office ordering Weiss to play Kim? Watching him bat reminds me of a woodchopper chopping wood.
