"Atlanta’s handling of their pitching staff has felt… suboptimal for the last month or so"

Atlanta's handling of their entire roster has felt suboptimal. Don't forget the bench of two DH only and one unusable player (HSK). Even our own players looked really confused last night while Murphy was warming up.

We are seeing maybe the best group Atlanta has had in the bullpen, but they are not gonna make it to the postseason if they keep having to cover 4+ innings on practically every game.

We are bringing good young starting pitching prospects, but getting them out of their routine to make their first MLB level experience as "on-call" or "TBD" pitchers. This while having a starting pitcher who's best role is as utility pitcher, and is currently being one of the starting pitchers who are causing the bullpen to be overworked.

....and Carrasco.

Also, I really did not like the Azocar for Yaz move - neither one was very likely to succeed but I would have liked Yaz's experience, even as a lefty facing a lefty, over a minor leaguer.

Emmanuel, like you, I was just so pleased not to see the Braves "give up" on a game by inserting Carlos into the game! Unfortunately, he's NOT gone, and can be pulled in at any moment. Yuck!

And, who would you rather face with the game on the line? Soto or Bichette? Who would you feel better about starting a game vs working in relief? Holmes or Murphy? Who would you rather see hitting 3 times at the end of this game? Bart or Dom? What if Baldwin had been coming up behind Olsen in lieu of Bart?

Great assessment of the Murphy/Holmes decision. To ask a rookie to make his debut in the 10th inning with a runner on 2b, game tied is beyond bonehead. As you said, let Holmes deal with the pressure packed moment and let Murphy at least go through his SP routine and see how it goes. I am becoming less enamored with Walt and his staff (although trying to navigate without Suarez, Acuna, and White is a tough slog).

What I truly don't know is how much of this is Weiss and how much is the front office, at least as it comes to setting the rotation. I don't think the front office outright dictates it, as that's not their style (AA has gone on the record before about how the manager sets the lineup and has full autonomy on in-game decisions), but I don't know who ultimately made this call on the rotation
