Riley is missing the ball by as much as 12". He swings the same place on a low sinker as he does on a down-and-out slider. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong. Send him to Disneyland, or gulf fishing for a couple of days. I mean he is WAAAYYY out there now. I really hate to see his confidence dying with each plate appearance and Walt not "do" something. Ronald is still not that and a bag of chips, either. And yet, we're still the best offense in baseball due to everyone else except left field. C'mon, Lindsay: you can talk some sense into AA! Need a little help here!
It seems like Riley hasn't been the same since the passing of his personal hitting coach Mike Brumley. I hope I'm wrong and this is just a bad start. If I recall correctly, there were always concerns about his bat speed but he was able to overcome his early career struggles mainly due to a shift in approach. Is Hyers' approach conflicting with what has made Riley so successful in the past? On a good note, Ozzie's wrist looks to be fully healed!
