Correct. He technically left the organization, so he has no time restriction. Even if he had accepted the outright assignment to Gwinnett without going to free agency first, he could still come back up because the time-based waiting period is only for optioned players.
I did not realize there was a time issue involved with using an option as far as calling a player goes … is there a good quick simple source for understanding how this works?
Yes, when you are optioned down, you need to stay down for either ten days (position players) or fifteen days (pitchers) before you can come back up unless it's as an injury replacement.
Braves win and everyone else in the NL East loses! And still the only team in MLB to not lose a series. I have enjoyed listening to the Phillies and Mets postcasts with the Phillies get curb stomped by the Cubs 2 out of 3 and the Mets losing streak reaching 8 with the sweep by the Dodgers. Life is good!
Blazin' Bryce Elder. The Friday Night starter for the Texas Longhorns back in 2020, i think.
I saw the Damnest Mock draft this week on Battery Power. Braves picked the shortstop Lombard at # 9. Paid him $1.5 million overslot. Then spent picks 2 thru 10 taking lesser players who would sign underslot deals.
Totally not the way the Braves operate. By the end of round 6, or 7, they'll be broke.
Picks 8, 9, and 10 will get about $ 2,000 or $3,000. They'll be so far off the radar they'll sign and be grateful to be drafted
It would be so nice to sweep the next 6 from the sillies and 3 of 4 from the nats. Big ask yes. It could really really burry the sillies in april....so so nice. Elder is not the pitcher Mr Box and so many others think he is. I hope Elder can keep his job whenever everyone comes back. It would be amazing if Holmes and Lopez are pushed put due to so many pitchers just doing so well......and why not have Jimenez comes back lights out as well....amazing. Fun times.
So why is Martin Perez being brought right back up? I guess by being outright he avoids the rule for having to stay down in the minors?
