I would never sign a Type A free.agent and forfeit draft picks and International Bonus pool money.
The player strike begins Dec 2nd, 2026. I hope for big changes that level the playing field between the Braves and the 14-15 Sad Sack teams living off the "Big Market" receiving Revenue Sharing
I'd argue that any work stoppage will be an owner lockout and not a player strike. The owners have already indicated that they see a lockout as just a negotiating tactic and the last time we had a work stoppage, it was a lockout instead of a strike.
I understand your comments about Type A FA's but I think next season is critical for the Braves with an aging roster and a probable shortened '27 season. I think they need to go all-in for next year whether that means trades (not much ammunition for trading) or signing a few high level FA's. The problem is, even with the embarrassment of this season staring him in the face, I'm not sure McGuirk gets it.
It wouldn't be performance based - he's very close to either the innings limit or the days in the majors limit where he is no longer eligible for PPI eligibility if he wins Rookie of the Year in 2026.
I need to check: someone casually threw out the other day they thought he was already over
Thank you for making it clear the. Penalties the Braves would suffer for signing a Type A free agent.
Their 2nd round pick would be way early, i'm guessing somewhere around 40-45.
$500,00 if well spent, gets you some real talent out of Latin America. John Gil got $110,000. Didier Fuentes got $75,000.
Raven Antonio got $10,000, i think.
The former Brave star Milwaukee catcher got $10,000.

Any chance they send Waldrep down before his start Wedensday?
I can't see him being sent down - he's had one bad game (against a good hitting team) and they need him to continue to progress at the mlb level.
