Good morning Lindsay. Listening to radio broadcast of yesterday’s game the announcers seemed concerned the lack of velocity by Lopez could be health related. You suggest it was a conscious decision by López to increase control. Have you heard anything regarding Lopez’s health? I’m with you in that throwing 90 mph fastballs is not sustainable. High school pitchers throw harder than that.
Bruce, agree with your comments on Lopez and Riley. Unfortunately we’re not in the Glavine /Maddox era anymore. Low 90 mph is gonna end up in the outfield stands somewhere. Even curve ballers Charlie Morton and Pierce Johnson threw harder than that.
I didn't hear anything directly after the game, so it's hard to know for sure, but we know he's been more willing to vary his velo than most starters so I'm going to assume it was intentional until we hear otherwise. I have asked, though, and I'll report back anything I find out.
1. Lopez pitched well because he had excellent command of this 93 mph fast ball. When we enjoyed Maddux and Glavine, it was always about command, not velocity.
2. Riley finally gets a big hit and RBI by staying on a low-and-away pitching driving it through the right side of the infield. Now, will he remember how effective it was to not fly open and trying pull everything?

The team may be making deposits into the ‘bank of mental toughness’ but these games are taking years off my life! :-)
As I said on the postcast open, our cardiologists are going to enjoy the boats they're earning right now!
Never thought I'd EVER say, "Boy, am I glad we're going to NY."
Everyone go to Battery Power Braves. They have started their Mid-season Top 30. They started with the Honorable Mentions.
I remember Jorwin Pulido, Cole Dennis, Jose Perdomo, Dixon Williams. At least 1 more.
I'll add them to the tracker once the full list is out
