In the next seven days we will all be hyper-focused on what AA does to land another SP. But, let’s take a moment to consider the SP depth on the Braves. This team lost starters 2-4 AND had replacements ON THE ROSTER tracking to deliver the following this season (IP / ERA):

Elder: 177 / 3.96

Holmes: 152 / 3.79

Lopez: 103 / 3.95

Perez: 133 / 3.38

I have no idea what will happen at the trade deadline and if the Braves don’t land an impact SP, I’ll be disappointed. But, I think the team should be evaluated by how they were constructed for the 2026 season rather than a transaction or two at the beginning of August. I don’t see any way around thinking AA and company are as good as it gets in the MLB. Also, applause for Elder, Holmes, Lopez and Perez for taking the ball and getting outs. A shiny-new arm will be great - but give me these four guys all day long.

What slop. Riley's strikeouts, Oz hacking like he's choppin' kindlin, Jarvis can't catch a popup, Eli outran himself (the only thing hurt was his pride), Elder boring to tears with all those "balls" and the 9th inning "drop". Lindsay, you have all the proof you need to get your Juju $ back.

I've been a loyal Austin Riley fan, but I'm beginning to wonder if he is just not mentally able to realize how easy it is for pitchers to get him out. Get two strikes on him (which happens on almost every AB) then give him low-and-away sliders and he will flail away like he did three consecutive times yesterday (and >100 times this year). Even just getting the bat to the ball and fouling off a few would be refreshing.
