This team is horrible. The beat writers who cover this team need to start calling out Anthopolous and Weiss for the dopes they are. Especially AA. The roster construction of this team is mind boggling. Nothing will change as long as this fool remains in charge. Please stop with the trade deadline nonsense too. Does anyone really believe AA will be a significant player at the deadline? Just like our weak off-season it will be just more of the typical AA insignificant moves at the deadline. Sorry for the rant but it needs to be said. Have to admit it feels good too.
Walt has made far more many good moves this season than bad moves. In fairness, I first guessed pitching to Soto with the game on the line. That was a bad decision that was all on Walt.
That said, most of the problems the Braves have and have had lay squarely at the feet of AA. The Braves red hot start out of the gate covered up AA's lack of moves in the offseason. But even more frustrating, of late, has been the horrible roster decisions that have left Walt hamstrung like bringing up Ritchie when he couldn't pitch and having to throw Murphy in a tie game in extra innings for his ML B debut and then sending him back down the next day!
This team is a very hard watch right now. Can it get better? Absolutely! Will it get better? I'm not nearly as sure about that. Go Braves!!
RE to Bruce: HAHA!! loved the facetious "DEA options comment. And I, too, wonder: what's with the arbitrary and caprious use of ABS usage??? These guys make millions upon million and won't self-discipline to make the greatest impact? Do the coaches not coach or have a policy regarding this? If so, its not working at all. Maybe the players don't WANT to be coached on this and the players selfishly just think the ABS is for use to avoid embarrasment??

The sad part is (and I hope I'm wrong) they are going to do the same thing with AJSS. They are going to do the desperate move and bring him up after the minimum rehab required. And they are probably going to give him the same "on-call" treatment they are giving all their young starters.
The only one thriving is Didi because they have him in a clear bullpen role, instead of waiting day-to-day to see how his arm is gonna be used.
The player of the game is Ryan O'Hearn. As you said on the podcast today, first time since the RBI became a stat that one player accounted for his team's first 10 RBI in a game. Some times you just gotta tip your cap. This is one of those times.
Agree Waldrep brought up too soon. Again, we get it beat into our heads that recovering pitchers don't just pick up where they left off. It's always about command and Waldrep had none. We should be seeing Murphy making his MLB debut tomorrow instead of the way his debut was managed yesterday. I think Holmes would be better off out of the pen anyway. I'm still wondering if AA doesn't realize we need another good arm in the pen or is he so infatuated with his DFA options that this hasn't crossed his mind?
Does anyone know if Weiss has even discussed ABS challenges with the hitters? Again, tonight we see Harris squander the second challenge early in the game in a meaningless situation.

Last year, they took their time with Waldrep. They let him work out his control issues in the minors before bringing him up.
