I agree completely. Surely the constant "no confidence" vote each time Mateo is passed up for Kim, Riley, kid from AAA, etc., the less confidence he's going to have, his morale will drop and the picture has already been painted: 1 year and he's gone. If he doesn't get traded at the deadline (with the way the Braves are playing, a big sell-off seems to be in our future). We can just tell that Mateo wasn't going to get a shot. Probably every hit he gets, play he makes at short, etc., is an embarrasment to AA's $20MM/year man.
We've heard talk about AA seriously planning to go after Skubal, which I have lobbied for. But even with Skubal (or Degrom or Ryan) if they don't get one more high leverage arm for the pen, it will be for naught, as tonight's game painfully demonstrates. Neither Skubal or any of the others will go more than 7 innings and if the pen is overworked with their best relievers working on fumes (Dylan Lee tonight), there will be some wasted SP efforts (like Sale's last start). Even if Suarez comes back there is still need for one more reliable guy. Otherwise AA is going to have to deal with being the GM for a team with a 10.5 game lead squandered in one month.
As The Braves showed a possible sign of life last night, the one thing that they have been able to count on Is their bullpen. However, as par for the course for the Braves, alas the bullpen blew up. It was their turn to add to the most bizarre Braves season leading up to the All-Star game, that I can remember. I've been following the Braves since 1972. Surely during those years something insane happened like our current "scenario." Still have a pretty good record but it is being dismantled in front of our eyes. We have so many holes.We try to fix one area and boom another one falls by the wayside. HW, was promising sign. I'm just wondering how in the world are we going to fix our total unraveling Braves. I am always looking at the positive. But I'm searching so hard to find any sign of the end. Sorry for this text Lindsay. This is the only place I can wander into the abyss

Is Mateo hurt? If not, what is it about Mateo, that Weiss does not like?
