Jones is an intriguing pitcher. His savant page is also interesting. Given his contract status, Pirates aren’t likely to move him. He’s arb eligible next season, but his outcomes probably will keep him in the affordable range for Pittsburgh. But, he is the type of SP, I would focus on acquiring if Pirates were open to talking. I would give up quality prospects for this type of player before so many of the SP names being talked about.
No GM can work without some regrets - but contracts like Jared Kelenic, Sean Murphy, H.S. Kim (this one was just bad luck), and Aaron Bummer are hard to swallow. A pile of wasted money that forces AA to constantly turn to the DFA market to salvage the season.
Being a baseball GM may be the toughest job in sports. Baseball is crazy! Compare the Yankees / Rays and Marlins / Mets and make sense of it. You can’t. All the complaints about the Braves starting rotation…look at the Rays starting rotation and tell me what makes them so special. They’re probably the best, most consistent group in the MLB right now. I think the better teams (sans Dodgers) focus on constantly improving and developing the players they have in the organization and don’t react to moves other teams make. Basically, the exact opposite of what most baseball commentators focus on. Lindsay is the rare exception. That’s why he is the best imho.
For 3 years he's hit under .200!! The Mendoza Line!! He won't get better and he will not be consistent help as he is only IR fodder at this stage of the game. Put on your big girl panties and do the right thing.

How stupid could you possibly be to challenge an obvious strike with two outs, no one on, in the third inning of a scoreless game!! Murphy has injuried himself out of baseball. To me, there is NOT a world where Murphy returns. I am so pleased with AA getting a right handed hitting catcher to pair with Blake.

2nd post: Don’t look now, but Marlins are three games back tied for 2nd with Philly. Closing in on top 10 team in both ERA and RpG. They have lowest / 2nd lowest payroll in MLB. Meanwhile Mets, with top 2 payroll, are a complete disaster. Some lessons to be learned, just need to figure out what they are.
Good game - much needed. Baldwin's two out hit in the 9th to drive in a run was a thing of beauty.
