Yeah, we left Hampton off the article because of the fact that Colorado signed him to the deal, not us, but missing Esasky was a complete whiff on my part. Just forgot about it when I went to edit Taylor's piece
I agree with Lindsay’s conclusion on the Braves Today podcast that Bruce Sutter’s contract was the worst free-agency deal in the team’s history. The late HoFer was a tremendous reliever that suffered a rotator cuff injury early in his Braves tenure. Next worse would be the three-year, $5.7 million FA contract to Nick Esasky before the 1990 season. Esasky was one of, if not, the top FA after the 1989 season. He suffered vertigo in his first season with the Braves and had 39 ML PAs for his entire contract period.
The best FA signing in Braves history is a “no-brainer”.
Will you do updated draft projections later that include high schoolers for pick #9, pick #26, and the 2nd rounder ?
I've seen other mocks having the Braves taking the prep.lefty from Sough Carolina at #9.
And at least 1 other mock had the.Braves picking the prep lefty Rojas at #9.
Will do, yep!
Mike Hampton would also fall into the terrible contracts by the Braves.
