Really good, in-depth article, Lindsay. Regarding the latest Profar disaster, surely AA and his staff have to absorb a good deal of the blame. I do not doubt that the Padres had at least an inkling of his fondness for PEDs and were not saddened to see Atlanta open up the coffers for Profar. Like the Swanson, Kelenic, and Laureano debacles, there is an element of ignorance and bad judgement in the front office. Is that due to arrogance on AA's part or sub-par research by the scouting department? Who knows?
I honestly like the vs lhp lineup with Farmer/Heim at DH. Eli White has shown improvement. Unless we are able to make a deal for Buxton, or Buxton/Ryan, I say give White a chance to platoon with Yaz to start the season.
We now have more money versatility to try to get Buxton during the season, if White/Farmer/Yaz don't workout.
And do NOT look at 2025. I think nothing went right for him in Baltimore last year, go look at 23/24 this guy can wallop LHPs if he has a regular job, I think.
