Interesting discussion. The old saying seems appropriate: “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”. Or in today’s MLB: “A controllable SP in the organization is worth 2 in FA”. Or “a dozen on the waiver wire” as we found out last year. For consideration and looping back to your prior discussion: Bryce Elder in 2025: 28 starts with a 4.55 FIP. Zac Gallon in 2025: 33 starts with a 4.50 FIP. The cost per WAR difference is stunning. Braves have a system that seems to be stocked with developing and promising arms…Use them!. The track record is strong: Strider, Schwellenbach, AJSS, Waldrup, Next Up.

Good analysis - I hope AA or someone on his staff takes note.

Yea... I hope we pass on Gallen.

Great content Lindsay. Love the analysis summary at the end comparing other SP options.

Yeah, I don't know why we've never really discussed Lucas Giolito, but perhaps we should. I don't think he's a frontline/impact starter, like AA wants, but probably worth at least a conversation
