What are your thoughts on Nico Hoerner being an option? He was a good SS for Chicago before Dansby arrived and can be a stop-gap at the position while potentially replacing Ozzie at 2B (any deal for Hoerner would have to come with a contract extension worked out).
I don't hate a deal for Nico, but all indications from Chicago are that the Cubs want to keep him. I would absolutely be cool with that if it happened, but I don't think we can bank on it
The signing of this Mateo guy means he be taking time from Cal Conley and Jarvis......or not. Once Spring is here we will see if Jarvis or Cal catch fire.....it will be another spring thing to follow. I love rooting for the 26th man battles.
There's something strangely intriguing about these guys battling in spring training every single day...just to sit on the bench for two straight weeks of the season without getting into a single game. It's fascinating
It is an embarrassing aspect of my fandom. Getting in respectful heated debates with friends about Shewmake vs Grissom is well ....an unfortunate waste of time aspect of my fandom. It is very embarrassing that I will have a point of view about such nonsense and be willing to defend said point of view for no reason at all....sad sad sad. I do have my fingers crossed for Cal.....
After this frustrating news, here’s the dream scenario: Dubón crushes it at short to open the season, Kim comes back and rakes, and the Braves wind up extending qualifying offers to both. They cash in on the market, Gil is ready by ’27, and suddenly the long game looks a lot brighter.
Unrealistic? Maybe. But not impossible. Clicking heels....there is no place where the Atlanta Braves are not winning the WS!!!
Sorry for the delay! We previewed the group but I'm still waiting for the team to make the international scouting director available to the media to write the recap.
We usually get him within the first two or three days, but it's delayed this year for some reason
I would think at some point Luke Waddell could get in the mix. A SS by trade can also play 2B/3B.
He is an OBP machine and could be optioned back to AAA upon Kim-s return to play daily in.Gwinnett
There are better options but I certainly like him better than Jim Jarvis as an.internal.option
I wouldn't be shocked if both Waddell and Cal Conley are NRIs and have a chance to earn a bench spot
As for signing a current FA ,Mateo over IKF by bunches
Trades Like the Acuna, ,Cruz and Durhin options.

Still. waiting for a Newsletter about this year's International Signing class.
Of course the Small Market teams have bigger Bonus Pools and generally have stronger classes.
Just don't understand why Dodgers, Mets, Braves, etc agreed to pay the Small Market Teams to stay in Business.
And give them extra draft picks and all the other benefits they receive in Latin America.
So sick of reading how great the Small Market teams have Great Farm Systems.
