FanGraphs’ contract estimates give Atlanta several paths to more than 300 projected innings, but only some preserve enough money to change the offense.
I think looking at the projected contracts, yeah it'd be hard to get more than two of them unless we either skip reinforcing the offense at all or shed some salary via trade
Great discussion. I would have to believe this is similar to the ideas being bantered about in AA's office.
I like the idea of Mahle and Kaima Taira - not sure how the dollars add up - but I'm tired of seeing Asian players thrive in Dodger uniforms and we have none. These guys are groomed from youth to be disciplined and play the game the right way. That would still leave the issue of inadequate offense unresolved but maybe we can rely on McGuirk (Ha!) to free up some $$ to bring in a SS or LF.
Another gem. But more consistent and diversified offense must be the top off-season objective. Adding either Gray OR Mahle and trying to find a come-back or prove it guy(s) (Perez type) makes the most sense. Accomplishing what needs to be done on the offensive side will take some real work given the money committed to current players (Riley, Murphy, Profar, et.al.). It’s likely to take a combination of trades (including potentially eating some salaries) and signings.
So i think you're saying we cas only get 2 of Mahle, Gausman and Soroka ?
There's arguments for each, as you pointed out. I think i like Mahle and Gausman
