Great, detailed assessment. It would be nice to see a few guys come up from Gwinnett with real velocity, like Fuentes. But if I were in charge of Braves' pitcher development I would require all pitchers at every level watch every pitch of the seven inning clinic that Pfaadt put on last Friday in Atlanta. 93mph max, mixing FB with Change with Slider, and consistently hitting spots. The result: two meaningless hits is seven innings. Maybe it was a one-off but still a great example for young pitchers.
Great insight as always Lindsay. Given the trends in pitching, I keep wondering if pitching as it’s been practiced in baseball for more than a century at an inflection point. Do we still need to think of pitchers as “starters” or “relivers”? How should Braves change drafting and development to adapt to these trends? (Increase in injuried arms, decrease in CG and innings covered by SPs, and cost of SPs).

I look at top 30 prospect lists all over the Internet.
Just recently i've seen Baumanm ranked as high as #10, and as low as #28.
He goes to AAA and gets bombed.
They reassign him to AA and he looks great. Again.
I had some reservations about the Draft. But am grateful they went with the Big Fastball early and often.
