I like Ritchie. I know he's a rookie. I know he's learning every time he goes out there right now. I want him to succeed. But I'd be lying if I said his FIP of 6.14 wasn't concerning! He's walking way too many for as few as he is striking out.
I hope he has a good outing tonight because I still have more confidence in him than I do in ReLo, at this point.
I agree. He has the kitchen sink for an arsenal and all of them are "pretty good" but none are the elite pitch you need to put away major league hitters when you get them to two strikes. So, hitters wind up fouling off a bunch of pitches, driving his pitch count up which leads to his (relatively) short outings.

That's why scouts have always labeled him a "Back-End" starter.
Maybe he can remake himself into another "Blazin Bryce" Elder.
Absolutely! He is no where near being the finished pitcher he will eventually become.
