I do not see much value to having Kim on this team. A third catcher would provide more options re using Baldwin at dh and pinch hitting or running for Murph. Mateo provides better bench depth than Kim. My view is that AA does want to admit his $20 million mistake by DFAing Kim.
Kim is purely a bench piece now, it seems. If they were planning to give him another shot to turn things around, an Ozzie day off feels like a chance to do that.
I get the LHB vs Junk, would rather have Murph behind the dish and Drake the Rake at DH...
