I understand it, but not a fan of sending JR down and bringing up Carrasco. The Braves don’t appear to have any hesitation to send Carrasco down even without options. My first choice would be to take a risk and leave Ritchie on the roster and if you need to clear the spot, bring Karinchak back up… can they do that?
Thanks for explaining. With the stress on todsy’s staffs, the 15 day rule should change. Seems odd they didn’t move Elder to the IL… what’s the downside?
I too have wondered what's up with Elder. If he isn't on the probable pitching chart for this week's series versus the Pirates, there's no other option than to IL him because the team can't keep running a man short in the bullpen.

He can only come back this quickly if he is replacing an injured player, since pitchers have to spend 15 days in the minors when optioned
