"Is this just a temporary breather, or is it a “production over paycheck” decision by Walt Weiss that will persist over the next few weeks/months?"

It SHOULD be a production over paycheck decision. But if I had to be an amount of money that mattered to me, I'd bet Riley will be back in the lineup before the series is over, maybe as soon as tomorrow.

Unrelated question… why did the MLB give the Phillies Friday nights off this season? It’s at least 4 Friday’s they’ve had an off day. That’s nuts.

Just read where the Dodgers offered Tigers their pick of some number of top prospects in their system for Tarik. Since Braves don't score runs (as shown again tonight, down 3-0 to Nats without a hit or walk), and since Tarik and Sale can't hit, I say we re-evaluate. Send Chris to Dodgers for their 10-best prospects. Chris has had a better year than Tarik.

John, although I was thrilled to see Dubon at 3rd, I would even bet we will see Riley pinch-strikeout for Yaz/White somewhere in THIS game, take 3rd and send Dubon back to left. I hope I'm wrong.
