Ten months ago the common refrain emanating from AA and many others was, "Losing four starting pitchers this year is really tough, but next year could be really fun ". It was like, 'they will heal and they will pick up where they left off, right?'. I commented then that this was ignorance on display - recovering pitchers are fragile animals, prone to further break-down. And here we are: Schwelly and Waldrep recovering from further surgery, Lopez a wobbly shadow of his former self, and now Strider- who has not been all that great and probably is done for many weeks at best. AA did well to get Suarez but at least one more quality arm was needed, either in the rotation or pen.
This season has been fun so far, primarily due to Weiss's brilliant management. But it seems to me that AA has a crossroads to contend with: either he goes all-in on the trade market to try and get a high-end SP and RP (which would mean losing a few prized young pitchers) or he swallows hard and tries to compensate with those young pitchers. I just pray he doesn't try to do it with his beloved DFA carousel. We've seen that movie too many times.

* we weren't told the truth about Strider last night for the same reasons the federal gov't has lied to us about UFO's for so long;
* Dubon's funky habits at the plate (e.g., jumping out of the batter's box when the ball is pitched) keeps him from knowing whether the pitch was ball or strike, keeps him from watching another pitch for timing purposes (looks kinda little league, really);
* we have confirmed that Drake Baldwin is the best pure hitter on the team;
* Riley & Acuna may have just injuried themselves to death, and
* the last 3 months of Harris is the anomoly and his return to reality (known as 2023, 2024 & 2025) is the reality.
But with Olsen, Albies and Baldwin leading the offense, and if we can "SALE" thru this rough patch with Chris and the young arms - and still compete - it will remain a fun season to watch.
So many absolute type statements in so many fluid subjects. The Strider info will be out soon enough. MHII is not what you suggest. Yeah lets enjoy the game and winning in such a historic fashion.
