CJ posted on X that Roberto Ortiz was 70th out of 89 qualified umpires in balls and strikes accuracy this season. Why is MLB allowing an ump the bottom quarter of umpires in the playoffs? Completely inexcusable! He was atrocious especially in the top of the 1st at key ABs and counts. Do better MLB!
For sure, conservative!! You use Chris Sale in a game you may could have avoided which means you are now fighting a chain saw with one hand tied behind your back? The only reason to be THAT conservative against the World Champs is if you really believe that Olson, Riley, Acuna would be your salvation on offense. Instead, the only love we got was Murphy and Ozzie - THE TWO PLAYERS WE'VE POUNDED ON THE MOST! (Well, maybe a couple others too). STARS are the players that shine the brightest when the lights are the hottest, when your team needs you the most. Olson, Riley and Acuna did little today to show themselves "STARS".
After watching all four games today, it seemed evident to me that Atlanta's back end releivers (Mederos, AJSS) are decidedly lower quality than the back end of other teams. That was my major complaint about AA after the trade deadline, i.e. not signing a quality guy for the pen. He clearly is leaning heavily on AJSS and Ritchie developing into weapons. I haven't seen much to be optimistic about so far.
The easiest game to steal on the road is game 1. Dodgers been off for several days. We're coming in hot. We simply didn't give ourselves a chance to win this game with the pitching decisions that were made. You could not have asked more from Dodd. He did his job as the opener. After that, it sorta went to hell in a handbasket as my grandmother used to say.
