I think Jake M also discussed this on the YouTube show. The need for speed and the evolving game. Would love to see this team take some draft shots at guys with some 5 tool upside like Dumesnil, Cannarella and Dickerson.
I've been begging for some high-ceiling position players in the draft (and specifically shortstop), but they seem to prefer IFA for hitters and the draft for pitchers.
Agreed. There are some good SS prospects out there. If Houston falls run to the podium. Aloy is interesting. Love Willitts. Doubt he is there at 23. Their IFA hit rate needs to better if they stick to that approach. It has hamstrung their ability to wheel and deal for starter upgrades
Really good article. Great deep dive into those HR numbers. Not giving the Atlanta front office a total pass but they at least seemed to be aware of the issues this team has been having. Adding Profar was supposed to alleviate some of problems as he is a strong on base percentage guy who puts the ball in play and plays the corner OF. His suspension really plagued this team. Scary thing is I’m not sure Atlanta has many options other than maybe upgrade at the SS position in the offseason they have. Seems like they are destined to run the same offense back next year. These guys are under contract and it’s pretty much up to them to perform better. It’s also unlikely another team is willing to take on Profar if Atlanta just wanted to dump him at the deadline and start fresh and apply that money somewhere else. Nobody is trading for him when he comes back. Assuming Acuña comes back close to his normal self maybe Verdugo can provide what Profar was supposed to. We’ll see but guys need to start getting on base or this trend is likely to continue.
Honestly, no - they'll help on the margins and win you a game or three in a season (like last night's contest), but any sort of significant improvement to the team's record is going to come from the heart of the order mashing and fixing underperforming guys like Michael Harris II.
Spot on take. Braves have been too slow, unathletic, and fat far too much station to station baseball.

Great analysis and recommendations. Are they enough for a significant change in this team’s trajectory?
