Pat Murphy has the best record and Don Mattingly has the clearest turnaround. But no candidate has offered more visible evidence of managing than Weiss.
Watching almost every game, I've been more impressed with Walt's managing more than any recent manager. His in-game decisions; the coaching staff he put together; the changing line ups (he seems married to the left-righty batter/pitcher scenario, which is very different from previous Braves managers.). His recognition of what Dubon could do for his management of the lineup. Now, if he could just fix Riley! (haha).
Good article, Lindsay. To me the management of the bullpen is the greatest challenge of any manager, especially with a team like the Braves with 'cross your fingers' type SP's at the end of their rotation. To avoid burning up the leverage RP's and get the game from the 6th through the 9th with the other guys requires discipline and experience.
