Any thoughts of AJ SS or Waldrep spending time in the BP? Seems like both have a strong two pitch mix that would play up in that role? I'm also thinking that puts them in the Fried/Strider track of cutting their teeth in the majors learning how to attack every hitter.
I'm absolutely for it, but the team seems to be less inclined to do that in recent years and I don't know why. It's just hard to envision them accumulating all this bullpen depth and then not using it because they decided to throw a young starter in there.
The only guy that I can really remember them doing this with in the last few years is AJSS in 2023 - even Vines and Dodd were both starting and then moved to relief before eventually (in the case of Vines) being DFA'd.
The more valuable thing is getting innings - AA gave us a comment some time ago (maybe pre Winter Meetings) about how innings from a starter are the hardest thing to find, so it'd make sense.

Seems to me they are going to be even more risk adverse and keep their minor league starting pitchers stretched out just in case.
